Ballet Edmonton will host the world premiere of two new contemporary dance theatre productions next month.

Escape is a double bill consisting of the latest work from Shay Kuebler, a Vancouver-based choreographer and creator who was born in Alberta’s capital city, and Emilie Leriche, a French-American performer and choreographer.

Kuebler’s story, titled Angel, “blurs the fantasy genre with a tale of love and betrayal” and is, above all, one about good and evil.

Leriche’s production, titled Terrific, and Everywhere was inspired by an in-studio showing of her work and explores the themes of trust and letting go.

Both shows are set to new sound compositions and “are sure to break the bounds of what we know,” Ballet Edmonton said in a news release.

Tickets to the Feb. 14 and 15 event are on sale, starting at $35.
