The app shows when and where free food is being given away on the U of L campus.

Event organizers are able to list their event to let students know what’s going on.

So far, 600 people have used the app.

Mukherjee came up with the idea when he noticed how much food was left over at events.

“I have worked in a lot of events around campus, and I have noticed that with every event there’s a lot of free food left over and event organizers struggle to hand out that free food,” Mukherjee said.

“So, thinking about how I could bridge that gap, that’s where I came up with Snack Radar.

“It prevents food wastage, as well as feeds students who need it the most.”

Mukherjee hopes to expand the app beyond U of L’s campus in the future.
