Shoppers pose for selfies with Santa and roast marshmallows at Christmas in Kensington

Published:

Christmas in Kensington Shoppers in Calgary's Kensington community posed for selfies with Santa, and noshed on toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate Saturday to support local businesses.

Shoppers in Kensington had the opportunity to sample an unexpected treat Saturday, namely roasted marshmallows.

The urban village hosted Christmas in Kensington on a mild December day, where visitors could roast marshmallows, sip on Good Trade hot chocolate and pen letters to Santa.

“It’s important to support local businesses,” said Sierra Beaulieu, from Kensington BIA one of the event organizers. “It keeps the money in the local economy – and then just by having a fun and exciting atmosphere to celebrate the holidays.”

Shoppers could also pose for a photo with Santa, explore photo stations throughout the neighbourhood or play a game of bean bag toss.

Christmas in Kensington runs from noon to 5 p.m. every weekend through Christmas.

On Sunday, there will be a petting zoo from Butterfield Acres, a “green, mean friend” who may or may not have the first name “Mr.” and live music.
