Police are searching for a suspect in a string of bank robberies in northeast Calgary.

The robbery unit is investigating three incidents that all took place within a span of 30 minutes on Monday afternoon.

The first robbery occurred at 12:30 p.m., when a man entered the Royal Bank of Canada located at 5445 Falsbridge Dr. N.E.

Police say the suspect demanded money from the teller and threatened employees, saying he was armed.

He took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the bank. No one was injured and no weapons were seen.

25 minutes later, around 12:55 p.m., police believe the same man visited the ATB Financial located at 50 Saddletown Cir. N.E. and once again demanded money and threatened employees.

This time, however, the suspect was unable to take any money. Again, no weapons were seen and no one was injured.

Then just five minutes later, around 1 p.m., the suspect is believed to have done the same thing at the CIBC located at 62 Saddletown Cir. N.E. This time, he was able to take an undisclosed amount of money, but no one was injured.

The suspect is described as a 20- to 30-year-old man, between 5’10” and 6’1” tall, with a fair complexion. During the robberies, he had his face covered and was wearing black gloves, black pants and a dark-grey hoodie.

Investigators are collecting evidence, speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
