Bachelor of Criminal Justice students at Lethbridge Polytechnic are learning about more than just policing.
Sixty students are in the middle of taking on research projects.
It’s the first time students will be doing these projects since the bachelor program was established in 2023.
Students had the chance to pick their tropic based on what interested them.
Fourth year student Zane Johnson is researching how different generations perceive police officers.
He believes projects like these will be beneficial
“Between year one in year two in the diploma, and then year three or four, there’s been a big jump in the education...like rigor, I guess,” said Johnson.
“I think the research is really beneficial because you learn how to looking look into things in more depth.”
Students are also paired up with project mentors to help give them insight into real world policing.
