A familiar name is back in the field, vying to be Calgary’s next mayor.
Jeromy Farkas, former councillor for Ward 11 and current CEO for the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation, announced his intention to run again on Tuesday night.
In a statement, Farkas said he wants to get Calgary moving again and “city hall is stuck.”
“We need leadership that we can trust to get city hall working again,” he said.
“As mayor, I will get city hall focused on actions that matter to make sure we all prosper.”

Farkas says if he is elected, he will strive for affordable housing, reliable jobs and safe streets.
He was first elected to council in 2017 and announced in 2020 he would run for mayor the following year.
He placed second to then-Ward 3 Coun. Jyoti Gondek, with 115,742 votes to Gondek’s 174,649.
Farkas says he will be running as an independent candidate in the Oct. 20 election.
Gondek, Jeff Davison and Brian Thiessen are also running.
