The Blood Tribe has issued an alert for members warning of a disturbing increase in the number of cases where street drugs were found to be laced with – or contaminated with – fentanyl.

The alert, posted to the Blood Tribe website on Wednesday, indicates fentanyl has been found in marijuana, crack, cocaine and meth.

“This ongoing trend is deeply concerning,” the alert states.

“This alert is being shared with community partners to raise awareness and encourage harm-reduction practices.”

The alert urges community members to take precautions, such as carrying naloxone kits.

A list of locations where naloxone kits can be found is available on the Blood Tribe website.

Those who require training to use the kits can call 403-737-3888 or the Opioids Response Coordinator at 403-393-3798.
