A Diamond Valley resident has won $2.5 million from a Lotto 6-49 ticket.

“I won’t believe it until I see it [in the bank],” Allen Briggs said in a Wednesday news release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

Briggs bought his ticket from the Fas Gas in Longview, Alta.

He won by matching the numbers 6, 9, 21, 24, 41 and 48 on the Dec. 21 classic draw.

Briggs said at first, he thought he won $250,000.

He says he doesn’t have any big plans for his windfall.

“Mostly, I just want like to continue the way it is,” he said. “But I might pay off a couple mortgages… for our kids."

The Dec. 21 draw was shared with another ticket purchased somewhere in the Atlantic provinces.
