Calgary comic book shop Another Dimension Comics announced it will be closing its doors after 42 years in business.
The comic book shop, located in Sunnyside, originally opened in 1983.
“A big thank you to all the people who have supported us through this long journey,” the shop said on its website.
“It has been a pleasure to serve the Calgary community for the last four decades, but the time has come to turn the page and begin a new chapter.”
Another Dimension shared the news alongside art from the 1967 Amazing Spider-Man comic “Spider-Man No More!” where Peter Parker decides to walk away from his life as the web-slinging superhero.
The shop says it will continue to receive new comics through the end of March and will remain open until April 26.
It encouraged subscribers to clear their files by April 15 and any other shoppers to come in before the shop closes if they have had their eye on something.
After the store is closed, Another Dimension says its website will continue to operate, adding back issues and “other surprises” over the next few months.
Another Dimension was recognized in 2016, winning the Harry Kremer Award for outstanding comic retailing.
