After an especially chilly week, the Jack Singer Concert Hall will take on the feel of Jamaica this weekend.
“We’re going to bring the Jamaican vibe, the sunshine, through the music and the energy,” vocalist Ammoye told CTV News.
The reggae/fusion performer is part of A Tribute to Bob Marley, with the Calgary Philharmonic backing her on Feb. 8.
Born in Jamaica and now living in Toronto, Ammoye said we need to hear more of the peace and kindness exemplified by Marley’s music.
“What we should be doing right now is celebrating our differences, not fighting each other, but coming together,” she said.

Marley died at the age of 36 in 1981.
February 6 would have been his 80th birthday.
