South Simcoe police deliver kindness to seniors with their Caring with Cards and Carnations campaign.

The South Simcoe Police Service ‘Caring with Cards and Carnations’ campaign for seniors is returning for another year.

Local elementary students from the Simcoe County District School Board and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board made roughly 3,700 kindness cards for seniors in Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil.

This year, along with a card, either a carnation or knitted heart will be included with the delivery.

Hand-knitted hearts Helena Koch knitted 1,233 hearts for each resident in Sandycove Acres as part of the Caring, Cards and Carnations campaign.

Two-hundred and fifty carnations were donated by Linda’s Floral Designs in Bradford and Lavender Floral in Innisfil and local volunteer Helena Koch knitted 1,233 hearts for each resident in Sandycove Acres.

The deliveries started Thursday and will be dropped off by South Simcoe police members and auxiliary officers, along with community volunteers and organizations, including Innisfil Fire and Rescue Services, CONTACT Community Services, Bradford West Gwillimbury Seniors Association, Holland Gardens, and the Elden.

This heartwarming initiative, started in 2019 by Special Constable Elisabeth Aschwanden, aims to bring a smile to the faces of seniors, and show them they are important and thought of on these occasions.
