Barrie police have arrested a 27-year-old man, following an incident that has led to multiple firearm and drug-related charges.
On Sunday just before 7 a.m., a woman called police after an alleged domestic disturbance took place at a home on Georgian Drive and Penetanguishene Road in Barrie.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says Tactical Support Unit officers were dispatched and eventually entered the home, where there was an interaction with officers in the midst of a man’s arrest.
Officers say they remained in the area for several hours before clearing the scene around 1 p.m.
The SIU confirmed that the man was taken to a hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious injury. He was treated and released back into police custody.
Due to the interaction between the man and police during the arrest, the SIU has invoked its mandate.
No further details have been released at this time as both the SIU and Barrie Police continue their investigations.
