Do you have room in your home and your heart, for a new furry friend?

Barrie-based, Furry Friends Animal Shelter has partnered with PetSmart Charities of Canada for the first National Adoption Week of 2025.

From kittens to seniors, lovable lap cats to spectacular special needs kitties, over 20 fabulous felines are ready for adoption and deserving of a loving home.

Until March 30, animal lovers can come and meet the animals at the south end PetSmart located at 33 Mapleview Drive, East in Barrie.

Furry Friends Animal Shelter Inc. is a completely non-profit, no-kill shelter that has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding new homes for cats and kittens in the Barrie area and beyond for over 25 years.

“We have approximately twenty currently ready for adoption and our shelter has about fifty more”, says Susan Bartley with Furry Friends Animal Shelter.

“This is our season where we really start to get a lot more, and the more kittens we adopt out, the more we can take in and donations are always welcome to help get those cats ready for adoption”.

The local rescue operates with an entirely volunteer team, with no paid staff and rely greatly on the partnership with PetSmart to find these animals homes.

All available cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated against fleas and parasites. The majority are also microchipped.

The Furry Friends staff will be at the south end on the following dates and times:

Thurs., March 27, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Fri., March 28, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
