Six people on a joy ride in a stolen car were nabbed by police in West Parry Sound.
Provincial police in Parry Sound were alerted to a stolen car from Hamilton when the Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) beeped at around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Police threw down a spike belt on West Carling Bay Road and successfully brought the car to a stop.
However, the six people in the car immediately fled the scene.
Police soon rounded the half-a-dozen people up and also determined a second stolen vehicle was parked at a rented cottage in Carling Township.
A 19-year-old Hamilton woman was charged with dangerous driving, operating a vehicle while prohibited and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
She was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on April 3.
An 18-year-old Hamilton individual was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
A 15-year-old and two 17-year-olds, all from Hamilton, were charged with possession of property over $5,000.
And a 17-year-old from Hamilton was arrested and charged with: failing to comply with an undertaking, being an occupant in a car knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon, and possession of property over $5,000.
The accused were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on April 9. The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
