The Progressive Conservatives reign supreme again in the riding of Simcoe North.
Incumbent Jill Dunlop has earned her third election victory with a resounding win, with about 52 per cent of the vote earning nearly double the votes of her closest rival.
“It’s an exciting night here in Simcoe North,” said Dunlop from her viewing party headquarters in Orillia. “I am so proud of my team who got behind me every day out there in the cold and snow. We worked hard, we got to thousands of doors and I’m very humbled by the voter support and thankful to everyone who went out and voted.”

Dunlop said while campaigning door-to-door voters were clear in what they expect from their member of provincial parliament locally and with respect to the tariff war south of the border.
“What I heard a lot was they’re either very happy with the support we’ve been receiving; lots of investments in healthcare and infrastructure and they’re also concerned about what is going on with the U.S. with the tariffs. They know that Doug Ford is here to protect Ontario, protect the jobs locally and across the province,” said Dunlop.
The MPP-elect said she will continue to focus on investments in health care at Midland’s Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) and Soldiers’ Memorial in Orillia as the province aims to train thousands of new support workers, nurses and doctors.
“I’ve worked hard with our local hospitals, GBGH and Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, both leads in health care. I talked about the investments our government has been making in increasing the number of medical seats as well as the two new medical schools that are coming; so making huge investments in those areas that are going to have a huge impact here in Simcoe North and across Ontario,” she said fresh off her win.
Dunlop has served as Education Minister in the Ford government for a year and was previously Minister of Colleges and Universities from 2021.
