A high school student is facing charges in connection with what police are calling a “violent assault” on a fellow student in Huntsville.

In a release issued Thursday, provincial police stated the alleged incident happened late Wednesday morning at a local secondary school. Police said the male student was arrested and faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

The other student sustained injuries that required medical care. "The extent of injuries are yet to be determined," OPP noted.

“Acts of violence and bullying in our schools are unacceptable. If you or someone you know are victims of bullying or violence, reach out for support,” OPP added.

The accused was released to the care of a parent and is scheduled to appear in court in May to answer to the charges. His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
