Police have arrested two health care workers accused of defrauding a senior in Newmarket out of a significant amount money.
York Regional Police say the suspects attended various financial institutions and withdrew nearly $1 million from the senior’s bank account.
Police allege Juvie Maputol, 38, and Lloyd Maputol, 37, of Richmond Hill, had accessed the senior’s banking information, adding one of the suspects had been employed to care for the senior.
According to police, Lloyd is currently practicing as a registered nurse and Juvie is employed as a personal support worker.
On Thursday, officers charged the pair with several offences, including fraud, theft over $5,000, and laundering proceeds of crime.
Investigators are concerned the duo may have impacted others, and urge anyone with information to contact them at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7141, or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
The allegations against both of the accused have not been tested in court.
