A delivery truck driver accused of speeding 45 kilometres per hour over the posted limit in Barrie faces a stunt driving charge and lengthy licence suspension.
According to the local authorities, a traffic officer was patrolling Essa Road near Salem Road on Thursday afternoon following a call regarding concerns about speeding, loud vehicles and racing in the area.
The officer allegedly clocked the delivery truck heading north along Essa Road, south of Salem Road, at 105 km/h in the posted 60 zone.
Along with stunt driving, the 41-year-old driver from Toronto was handed a speeding charge, 30-day licence suspension, and the delivery truck was hauled away to an impound yard for 14 days at the owner’s expense.
Police say the incident shows "the positive outcome that can result when the community and police work together and fully supports the concept that road safety is a shared responsibility."
