Greg Scanlan and his wife Julie are celebrating after winning the RVH Auxiliary’s largest 50/50 community draw jackpot to date.
“I was at work and he called me and said, ‘You’re going to be glad you took this call,” Julie shared.
That’s when Greg told his wife he won the record-breaking January 30 prize worth $796,932.
The couple say they, along with their son and Greg’s parents, were all born at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie.

Money raised by the draw will support the purchase of a third MRI machine for the region’s largest hospital.
“This money will go a very long way to helping us complete this pledge. So we are just over the moon,” said Lise McCourt, RVH Auxiliary president.
The Scanlan’s are already making plans for their winnings.
“We are going to pay off our mortgage first and foremost, we’ve got a trip booked for next month, and probably invest,” Greg shared.
Tickets are already on sale for the next RVH 50/50 draw, which takes place on February 28.
