Two brothers from rural New Brunswick are about to showcase their musical talents on a national stage.
Macaulay and Micah Martin, known as The Martin Boys, are competing on Canada’s Got Talent on Tuesday.
The duo, who grew up in a small community near Woodstock, N.B., has been playing music together since childhood.
“Micah was six, I was nine when we first started playing piano and singing,” Macaulay told CTV News Atlantic’s Katie Kelly. “It all just grew from there.”
Now 23 (Macaulay) and 21 (Micah) years old, the brothers have already released four songs, with five more set to debut later this year.
“The music we grew up on led us to country music, and writing our own songs just felt natural” said Micah.

The opportunity to audition for Canada’s Got Talent came after a friend suggested the idea one evening. The brothers quickly put together their audition tape and it wasn’t long before they got the response that changed everything.
“I was at school in Fredericton when I got the email……I started frantically texting Macaulay. It was crazy,” said Micah.
The brothers say performing in front of a live audience – let alone a panel of celebrity judges - was both nerve-wracking and surreal.
“We’re used to playing for family and local crowds, so this was a whole different world,” says Micah
But the real highlight was singing in front of Shania Twain, one of their lifelong idols.
“Seeing her on that stage, knowing she was about to listen to our music…it was unbelievable,” Macaulay said.
As the episode airs, the Martin brothers are gathering with family and friends for a watch party at their parents’ home. They say the support from their hometown has already been overwhelming.
“No matter what happens, we just hope the whole East Coast is behind us,” said Macaulay.
While they can’t reveal the outcome of their audition, the brothers say simply being part of Canada’s Got Talent is a career-changing opportunity.
“No matter what, we’ve already put our name out there,” said Micah. “But if we do win the million, it’ll all go back into our music career.”
