P.E.I. RCMP made 230 impaired driving arrests in 2024

Prince Edward Island RCMP arrested 230 people for impaired driving offences in 2024, down slightly from the previous year.

Police arrested 140 people for impaired driving involving alcohol and 90 people for drug impairment last year, according to a P.E.I. RCMP news release. Officers arrested more than 230 people for impaired driving in 2023.

Police say cannabis was suspected or confirmed to be involved in 86.7 per cent of the drug-related cases.

Police investigated 29 collisions involving alcohol impairment and two involving drug impairment.
