Several animals have died following a barn fire in rural Prince Edward Island Monday night.

Queens District RCMP, the New Glasgow Fire Department and the North River Fire Department responded to the fire in Oyster Bed Bridge around 10 p.m.

The barn was severely damaged by fire when officers arrived at the scene.

Police say some animals in the barn died, including chickens, pigs, and a horse.

The PEI Fire Marshall’s Office was notified.

Police say the fire is believed to be accidental, caused by an electrical issue.
