Youth badly injured in Lunenburg County stabbing; 5 teens charged

Published:

Three adults and two youths have been charged with attempted murder in Lunenburg County, N.S.

Three 18-year-olds and two youths are facing charges after another youth was stabbed in Wileville, N.S., earlier this month.

Lunenburg District RCMP received a report around 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 12 that a family member was taking a youth to hospital after an assault.

Investigators believe a vehicle approached the youth while they were walking on Main Street. Police say four people got out of the vehicle and stabbed the youth with a knife.

The RCMP says the youth managed to run away and was treated for serious injuries.

Police arrested five people in connection with the stabbing at different locations between Jan. 12 and 17.

Ira LeBlanc and Emma Jollimore, who are both 18 and from Bridgewater, N.S., along with 18-year-old Braeden Meisner of Midville Branch, N.S., each face the following charges:

  • attempted murder
  • aggravated assault
  • robbery
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Two youths are also facing charges but police have not said what they are. They also have not released their ages. CTV News has reached out to the RCMP for more information.

Police say the five accused all appeared in Bridgewater provincial court in the days following their arrests.

Officers also seized the vehicle believed to be connected to the incident from a home in Bridgewater. Police say they searched the vehicle and seized further evidence.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Lunenburg District RCMP at 902-527-5555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
