Two people have been taken to hospital and a school has been evacuated due to a house fire in Dartmouth, N.S.
Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to the single-family home on Thompson Street around 1 p.m. Friday.
Deputy Fire Chief Dave Meldrum says the home was fully engulfed when crews arrived.
Firefighters removed two adults from the home. They have been taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Crews are still working to put out the fire, but Meldrum says there is no risk to the surrounding neighbourhood. He expects they will remain on scene for most of the afternoon.
Hawthorn Elementary School, which is located behind the home, has been evacuated as a precaution. Students and staff have been relocated to a local recreation centre.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
