Three Albertans appeared in court in connection to a shooting death in Cape Breton.

Three men from Alberta are facing murder charges after a man was shot and killed in Cape Breton.

Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a report of shots fired on Shore Road in Whitney Pier, N.S., around 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police say a man was seen running from a home and a white truck was also spotted leaving the scene.

A patrol supervisor tried to stop the white truck on Cow Bay Road, in Sydney, N.S. Police say the truck came to a stop and the people inside fled into the woods.

Police issued an emergency alert as they tried to find the suspects.

The Emergency Response Team, two K9 units, a drone and additional patrol officers helped track the suspects to a nearby apartment complex. Police say they arrested three men at the scene without incident.

Mal Chol, 27, Goaner Mark Tut, 20, and Letjor Geng, 19, are each facing a charge of first-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Jeffrey Pearson.

Police say the men, who are all from Alberta, have been remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.

Investigators say the shooting is considered an isolated incident.
