The RCMP in Pictou, N.S., is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest following an alleged abduction attempt in the town.
RCMP officers responded to a report of an attempted abduction in the area of Denoon Street around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
When police arrived, the force says officers learned an 18-year-old woman was walking home when she was approached by a man who offered her a ride.
When the woman declined, police say the man exited his pickup truck and tried to grab her.
The victim ran for help and was not physically injured, according to an RCMP news release.
Police describe the man as white and in his 60s, with a long white beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a camouflage hat with an antler’s emblem on the front, a camouflage jacket and khaki pants.
The vehicle of interest is described as a white Ford extended cab pickup truck with a black push bar.
RCMP says the truck was heavily rusted, had a very loud exhaust, and had a burned-out passenger headlight.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident, or security camera footage from the area, to contact the Pictou County District RCMP at 902-485-4333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
