A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a 66-year-old man in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis County last summer.
Annapolis District RCMP responded to a sudden death at a home on Virginia Road in Virginia East, N.S., around 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 31, 2024.
Officers found the body of a man at the scene. His death was ruled a homicide.
The RCMP says investigators interviewed more than 100 people and gathered evidence from six crime scenes over the last five months.
The RCMP Emergency Response Team arrested 21-year-old Samuel Isaac Robar of Bear River, N.S., at a property on Mary Jane Riley Road Wednesday morning.
Police said on “X” around 9:30 a.m. that officers were “conducting an arrest in connection with an ongoing investigation” and told residents to expect a “large police presence” on Mary Jane Riley Road.
Police posted again around 10:30 a.m., stating a man had been safely arrested.
Robar has been charged with second-degree murder. He appeared in Annapolis Royal provincial court Thursday morning.
Robar has been remanded into custody and is due to appear in Digby provincial court on Jan. 30.
