A major developer is shutting down rumours that a Costco is coming to Middle Sackville. N.S.
Armco Capital Inc. says speculation on social media is false after a confidential site plan circulated online, leading many to believe a large retailer had committed to the area.
The Halifax-based real estate company says the site plan was an internal document used to assess potential development but was not part of any official application with the city.
In a statement Armco says it spent 13 years working to acquire development rights for land near the Margeson Drive and Highway 101 interchange. The land is not zoned for large-scale retail, and any development would require city approval, as well as municipal water and sewer services - at the company’s expense.
Armco says no retailer has committed to the property and that any development will go through the proper planning and consultation process.
