New photography book highlights 50 years of Nova Scotia

Photographer Joseph Robichaud has complied his most memorable shots in 'Through My Looking Glass: Nova Scotia – A 50-Year Photographic Retrospective.'

For more than 50 years, Joseph Robichaud has documented the people who have lived in and visited Nova Scotia; now he’s sharing his discoveries in a new book.

“I have such a collection of images over the years of individuals who have come to Nova Scotia,” he said. “Rather than let these images remain in my files, now was a good time to look at the best images and compile them for the book.”

Through My Looking Glass: Nova Scotia: 50 Year Photographic Retrospective 1973-2023” highlights a half-century of documentary images from the Maritime province.

“I’ve been shooting documentary photography since the early 1970s for various publications,” he said.

Robichaud noted there are many books about Nova Scotia and he wanted his to be different by focusing on people.

“It’s all about the people, the personalities, the stories behind people,” he said.

The book is available through Pottersfield Press.
