The Halifax Thunderbirds are looking to cap off a three-game homestand with a victory over the Ottawa Black Bears Friday night at the Scotiabank Centre.
With just five games left in the season, the Thunderbirds are working towards clinching a home-playoff game.
“You know, their energy right now is, confidence is contagious, so that’s what they want to bring to the floor every time,” said Maki Jenner, communications manager for the Halifax Thunderbirds.
“For the Thunderbirds it’s just huge to get another win at home in front of these incredible fans.”
With over 10,000 fans in attendance at the last home game, the growth of lacrosse in Nova Scotia is gaining momentum.
“We’ve had tremendous numbers every game this season and it’s just awesome to see what these fans are able to bring. Every single game it’s so loud in here,” said Jenner.
The Halifax Thunderbirds are in their fifth season and are still chasing their first home playoff game, something the team says they want to accomplish for the fans.
“It’s so important for the players to have someone have their backs when it comes to playing big games. So, being able to provide extra games at home in the playoffs would be massive for this Thunderbirds team and it would really be such an honour and a privilege for us all to put together a playoff game for the city that has just really welcomed this sport,” said Jenner.
The Thunderbirds are currently sitting fourth in the league standings.
Fans can catch Friday night’s game on TSN at 7 p.m.
