Halifax pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by vehicle; driver ticketed

A driver has been ticketed after a man was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk in Halifax Tuesday night.

Halifax Regional Police responded to the collision in the area of LeMarchant and South streets around 8:10 p.m.

Police say the pedestrian was crossing South Street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle.

The 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 35-year-old female driver was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian while in a crosswalk.

Police say the collision remains under investigation.
