A resident of the SPCA in Saint John, N.B., has landed on his feet even after losing a cornerstone of his foundation.
Celina Parfitt is an attendant at the Saint John SPCA. She said “Mr. Burton,” a cat who had to have a leg amputated, is a “sweet baby” who is very friendly with staff and he’s looking for a new home.
“His biggest limitation is getting up on high things, jumping,” Parfitt said. “But nothing is really stopping him.”
Burton had broken toes, ligament, tendon and nerve damage to his right front leg when he arrived. The SPCA website said Burton is adjusting but homeowners may need to make a few accommodations for him, such as pet steps, so he can get to higher places.
Parfitt said the shelter has a videographer who makes videos about potential adoptees. She said Burton’s video is getting a lot of attention.
“I guess people love a touching story,” she said.
Parfitt said anyone interested in adopting Burton or another of the animals sheltered at the SPCA can visit their booth at the Saint John Home Show this weekend or visit the SPCA website.
