The Saint John Police Force is investigating five sudden deaths in the city.

The Saint John Police Force and coroner are investigating five sudden deaths they believe are connected to the high toxicity of drugs circulating the city.

Frontline officers “noticed a significant increase in overdose related calls for service throughout this past week,” said a Friday public safety alert.

Saint John police said the public may be more at risk of exposure to dangerous, perhaps fatal narcotics, and that a spike in drug-related overdoses may be occurring.
