Pedestrian and train ‘involved in an incident’ in Saint John: J.D. Irving

A spokesperson for J.D. Irving, which owns NB Southern Railway, has confirmed one of its trains was “involved in an incident involving a pedestrian” on some train tracks in Saint John, N.B., Friday morning.

The incident happened near a skate park in the city.

There is no word on the status of the pedestrian. No other details have been released at this time.

CTV News has reached out to the Saint John Police Force for more information but has yet to receive a response.

Anne McInerney, vice-president of communications for J.D. Irving, said the company is “cooperating fully with authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.”

“Safety is our top priority and we remind the public to always remain alert and to avoid crossing railway tracks,” said McInerney in a statement.
