Police have released the photo of a suspect who allegedly hit a New Brunswick storeowner with a bottle this week.

The New Brunswick RCMP is looking for a man who hit a store owner with a bottle during a theft earlier this week.

Police say a person entered a business on Route 115 in Irishtown and took several liquor bottles without paying for them around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The suspect allegedly assaulted the store owner when they confronted them outside.

Luo-Ping Zhao, director of Irishtown Grocery, previously told CTV News Atlantic a shoplifter hit him in the head with a bottle during the incident.

Police say the suspect got into a red vehicle as a passenger and fled the area. Officers have identified the vehicle and its owner, but they are still looking for the suspect.

He is described as a man with an average build, dark hair, a short beard and a moustache.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call police at 506-387-2222, or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
