Police in New Brunswick are still looking for two suspects involved in Thursday’s fatal home invasion in Berry Mills.
Officers responded to the incident around 5:50 a.m. and learned three people allegedly forced their way into the home. A man and a woman, both in their 30s, were inside the residence and an altercation ensued.
New Brunswick RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Hans Ouellette confirmed the man that was killed was one of three suspects, but he wouldn’t say how the man was killed or if gunshots were fired during the incident.
Frederic Ward, who lives next to the house, told CTV News Atlantic he heard a gunshot just before 6 a.m. on Thursday.
It’s not known if the man and the woman inside the house were the owners of the home.
Two suspects fled the scene in a black 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 before police arrived at the house. The RCMP put out an Alert Ready message about two men “carrying a firearm with dangerous intent” around 7:30 a.m. It was lifted before 3 p.m.
Investigators later said they also believed a light-coloured Ford F150 was involved in the home invasion.
Several police vehicles were parked in front of and in the driveway of the Isaiah Road home Friday morning.
Members of an RCMP forensic team were also on site conducting their investigation and a police drone flew over the property.

Police have determined it was a targeted incident.
As of late Friday afternoon, the suspects were still at large and there have been no arrests in connection with the incident.
The RCMP are asking anyone with information or security camera footage to contact them.
The investigation is being conducted by the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit.
