The New Brunswick MLA for Miramichi West is stepping down.
Mike Dawson was first elected as a Progressive Conservative in a 2022 byelection and re-elected last fall.

Dawson says he’s running as a Conservative in the federal election for Miramichi-Grand Lake.
Current MP Jake Stewart announced earlier this month he would not run in the next federal election.
“My background is in construction, I’m a contractor, I know what hard work is and what it means. As a contractor I believe that our nation needs political renovation. Given my background in construction, I decided that this was a project I would bid on,” Dawson said during a goodbye speech in the legislature on Tuesday.
A provincial byelection for Miramichi West will be called in the next six months.
Canadians head to the polls to vote in the federal election on April 28.
