A rooftop fire damaged a cannabis facility in Moncton Friday afternoon.

Moncton Fire Department Platoon Chief Brad Calhoun said they were called to Organigram on Edinburgh Drive just after 3 p.m.

Calhoun said the initial response was for an activated fire alarm, but when firefighters arrived at the scene, they determined there was a fire on the roof.

“Workers were repairing the roof and we did find some fire between the roof and the ceiling on the second floor in the administrative building. We had to cut some holes in the roof to get access, put the fire out,” said Calhoun.

No one was injured.

“There was some damage to the roof and the administrative building that’s going to have to be looked at,” he said.

Calhoun said the fire did not impact Organigram’s production facility.

Thirteen firefighters were on scene for close to two hours.
