Crews battle warehouse fire in Lamèque, N.B.

A fire broke out at a peat moss storage facility in Lamèque, N.B., on Thursday.

Firefighters in Lamèque, N.B., are fighting a large fire at a warehouse that holds peat moss.

Crews responded to the fire at Tourbiere Tracadie Ltée located at 87 Rue de la Tourbe around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Crews say the fire is under control but continues to burn.

Germain Mallet, who works for the municipality of Île-de-Lamèque, said there are some minor injuries, but couldn’t confirm how many or the extent.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
