The Nova Scotia RCMP says it has arrested a “dangerous person” in Wagmatcook Wednesday evening.
An emergency alert was issued Wednesday afternoon to people in Victoria, Inverness and Cape Breton counties.
“DANGEROUS PERSON with firearm inside residence. RCMP responding. Wagmatcook, Nova Scotia. Residents: Seek immediate shelter or stay inside and close and lock doors and windows. Do not leave a secure location,” read the alert.

Officers responded to a “situation involving an armed person” who had barricaded himself inside a Humes Rear Road residence Wednesday afternoon.
Around 8 p.m., police issued another update saying the man was now in custody.
“The emergency alert is now cancelled,” the update reads. “There is no longer a need for the public to seek shelter or stay inside. The highway and roads are now open. Officers remain on scene to continue with the investigation.”
